Hello Beautiful! We’re Angi and Mike Fox, the photographers and founders of Fox and Vixen Photography. In our 50s ourselves, we understand firsthand how our bodies and perspectives shift over time, and how each milestone birthday brings a mix of emotions.
We meet so many incredible women who feel like they’ve become background characters in their own lives. Maybe they’ve been “Mom” or “Grandma” for so long that the idea of just being seen as the beautiful, vibrant soul they are feels like a distant memory. But here’s the truth: those parts of you that maybe you’ve put on a shelf? They’re still there, just waiting to come alive again.
With the Over 40 and Fabulous project, we’re here to help women reconnect with those parts, to see and fall in love with themselves anew. We believe society’s views on beauty and sensuality are just beginning to evolve, recognizing that they don’t fade with youth. But there’s still a long way to go.
This project is about pushing those boundaries even further, showcasing women over 40 as powerful, beautiful, successful, and unapologetically sensual. Q: What is the Over 40 & Fabulous Project?
The Over 40 & Fabulous Project is a portrait photography project for women 40 and older, based in Pearland and serving the greater Houston area. Each participant receives a professionally guided photoshoot with professional makeup, a fine art print of their favorite image, and a feature in our print magazine and gallery exhibition. Participation begins with a short application. The session fee is $99.
Q: Who can apply?
Any woman 40 or older is welcome to apply. All body types, ethnicities, and backgrounds. We regularly photograph women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. The only requirements are that you're at least 40 and willing to release one image for use in our magazine and gallery exhibition.
Q: How much does it cost to participate?
The session fee is $99. It is non-refundable and applied as a credit toward your order. It covers professional makeup, your full guided photoshoot, and your feature in the magazine and exhibition, including a fine art 11x14 matted print of your selected project image. Additional artwork and digital files are chosen and purchased at a private ordering appointment about two weeks after your session.
Q: Do I have to share all of my photos publicly?
No. Each participant selects one image for the magazine and gallery exhibition. That image is required to be released. Everything else is completely your choice. Many participants keep all remaining images fully private. If you want a more conservative image for your public feature, we plan that with you before your session.
Q: Is this different from a regular boudoir session?
Yes. The Over 40 & Fabulous Project includes a public component — a feature in our print magazine and a gallery exhibition — that standard boudoir sessions do not. The session experience itself is similar: professional makeup, guided posing, and a full photoshoot. If you prefer complete privacy with no public involvement, a standard women's boudoir session is the right choice. If you're 40 or over and want to be part of the project, this experience is designed for you.
Q: I've never done anything like this before. Will I know what to do?
Most participants are first-timers, and that's completely normal. Every step is guided: posing, expression, what to do with your hands, how to move. You don't need any photography experience or modeling background. As Ms. L told us: "I can see how it might seem scary at first, but it is really quite fun."
Q: What if I'm nervous about how I'll look?
Nervousness before a session is nearly universal, even among women who describe themselves as confident. Professional makeup is included, and every pose is directed with flattering light and angles in mind. The goal is images that look like you at your best, not a version of yourself you don't recognize. All purchased images include professional retouching focused on natural enhancement.
Q: What should I wear?
After you book, we send you personalized preparation guidance that includes wardrobe suggestions tailored to your style and comfort level. Many participants choose lingerie for at least some sets, with options like implied coverage using draped sheets or a robe. Partial or full nudity is always optional. If you need a conservative look for your required public image, we plan that together before your session date.
Q: How long is the session?
Plan for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours for the photoshoot, plus about an hour for professional makeup beforehand. Total time at the studio is typically 3 to 3.5 hours.
Q: How long until I see my images?
We schedule your private ordering appointment approximately two weeks after your session. You'll view a full slideshow of your retouched images, select your project image, and choose any additional artwork or digital files you'd like to take home.
Q: When will my project image appear in the magazine and exhibition?
The Over 40 & Fabulous magazine and gallery exhibition are published twice a year, in February and August. Your feature will appear in the next scheduled cycle after your session. We'll confirm your specific publication date during the consultation process.
Q: Can I bring a friend to the session?
Yes. You're welcome to bring one supportive friend if that helps you feel comfortable. We ask that significant others not be present during individual sessions. Most women find they relax more fully and feel more like themselves when it's just them in the room.
Q: Is the studio private?
Yes. Our studio is a private, by-appointment-only space in west Pearland near 288. You'll receive the full address and day-of instructions after booking. No other clients are ever in the studio during your session.
Q: How do I apply?
Complete the short application on this page. We respond within one business day, usually the same day. If you're accepted, we'll invite you to schedule a consultation to talk through your goals, answer your questions, and set your session date.
