What Is Boudoir Photography?
Boudoir photography is a portrait experience — typically intimate, usually done in lingerie or fewer layers — designed to make you look and feel genuinely good in front of a camera. It's not about performing for anyone. Most clients do it for themselves: to mark a milestone, reclaim something, celebrate where they are right now, or simply see themselves the way others do.
It's not a modeling shoot. You don't need experience in front of a camera. The posing, the lighting, the direction — that's the photographer's job. Yours is to show up.
The experience at Fox & Vixen runs about three and a half to four hours from the time you arrive: roughly an hour with our makeup artist, two to two and a half hours of shooting, and a few minutes at the end to set your ordering appointment. About ten to fourteen days later, you come back for a private slideshow of your fully retouched images and choose what you'd like to keep.
Sessions at Fox & Vixen
Women's Boudoir
Our most common session. Fully guided, fully private. You control the comfort level — from the outfits you bring to how much skin is involved. Mike directs every pose. Angi handles wardrobe, styling, and makes sure the whole thing feels less like a photoshoot and more like a good afternoon.
Session fee: $399 | Collections from $1,599
Over 40 & Fabulous
A project we created specifically for women over 40, because the standard boudoir conversation wasn't speaking to that experience. Participants are featured in our printed participant magazine and at our biannual gallery exhibition — one image, selected by you. It's not a private session, but it's also not what most people picture when they hear "public." You choose the image. You control what goes out.
The lower session fee reflects that public component.

Bridal Boudoir
A session timed around your engagement — something to give your partner before the wedding, or something to keep for yourself. Brides consistently describe it as the one thing they did entirely for themselves during a season that's mostly for everyone else.
Session fee: $399 | Collections from $1,599
Men's Boudoir
The same fully directed, fully private experience — built for men. Whether you're marking a fitness milestone, doing something bold, or simply curious what this looks like, the session works the same way: Mike directs, you follow his lead, and the images will likely surprise you.
Session fee: $399 | Collections from $1,599
Couples Boudoir
An intimate portrait session for two. Most couples who do this are either celebrating something specific or just want one genuinely good photo of themselves together — not a posed holiday card, something real. The session is directed, relaxed, and entirely private.
Session fee: $399 | Collections from $1,599
About Fox & Vixen
Fox & Vixen Boudoir is a private photography studio in Pearland, Texas, operating since 2012. Mike Fox is the principal photographer for every session. His wife Angi is present throughout — she handles wardrobe, styling, and the parts of a session that are easier with another woman in the room.
They're in their 50s, married 35 years. That's not a marketing detail. It means they understand the stage of life most of their clients are navigating, and they've built a studio experience around that understanding rather than around a younger woman's version of what boudoir should feel like.
Makeup artist Amanda Lombardo works every session. The studio is private — located in Pearland, a mile off Highway 288, with no shared waiting rooms or overlapping appointments.

How Pricing Works
Boudoir pricing at Fox & Vixen works in two parts. You pay a session fee at booking to reserve your date and cover the experience — the makeup, the shoot, the ordering appointment. Then, about two weeks after your session, you come back to see your fully retouched images and choose what you'd like to purchase.
You're never buying artwork without seeing it first.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is boudoir photography?
Boudoir photography is an intimate portrait experience — typically done in lingerie or with minimal clothing — designed to make you feel confident and see yourself in a new way. It's guided, private, and focused entirely on you. Most clients describe it as more comfortable than they expected and more impactful than they anticipated.
How much does boudoir photography cost in Houston?
Houston boudoir sessions vary considerably by studio. At Fox & Vixen in Pearland, the session fee is $149 for the Over 40 & Fabulous project and $399 for standard sessions. Product collections start at $1,599. Most clients invest $2,000–$2,500 total. Payment plans are available.
Is boudoir photography worth it?
Most clients who do it say yes — not just for the photos, but for the experience. The majority describe it as something they wish they'd done sooner. That said, it's a meaningful investment. The best way to know if it's right for you is to look at the work, read what clients have said, and schedule a consultation to ask your actual questions.
What should I wear for a boudoir session?
You don't need to figure that out before you book. After you're on the calendar, you'll receive a preparation series with specific wardrobe guidance — what works on camera, what to avoid, and where to shop. Most clients bring three to five outfits. Angi helps pair each one to a set on session day.
How do I prepare for a boudoir session?
You'll receive a preparation email series covering everything: wardrobe, skin prep, hair, what to expect when you arrive, and how to get comfortable in front of the camera. Nothing is left to figure out on your own. You show up. The rest is directed.
Do I need to be a certain age, size, or fitness level?
No. Fox & Vixen works with women across a wide range of ages, body types, and starting points. The Over 40 & Fabulous project was created specifically because women over 40 kept telling us the standard boudoir conversation didn't speak to them. It does here.
Is the session private?
Standard sessions are entirely private. Images are never shared without a signed release from you. The Over 40 & Fabulous project has a public component by design — participants agree to have one image, selected by them, featured in our participant magazine and gallery exhibition. If you want full privacy, book a standard session.
Where is Fox & Vixen located?
Our studio is in Pearland, Texas — about one mile off Highway 288, south of Houston. We're easily accessible from most Houston-area neighborhoods and suburbs.
How long does a boudoir session take?
Plan for three and a half to four hours on session day: approximately one hour for makeup, two to two and a half hours for the shoot, and a few minutes to schedule your ordering appointment. The ordering appointment is a separate visit, typically one to two weeks later, and runs under 90 minutes.
How do I book a boudoir session?
The first step is a short consultation call — about 15 minutes — where you can ask questions and get a clear picture of how the session works before committing to anything. You can schedule that call below.
