Ms T - Over 40 and Fabulous
Ms T was the 12th participant in our Over 40 and Fabulous Spring 25 project to come see her images.
Here is her selection for her project image. We only share images with our client’s permission.
Rediscovering Herself: Ms. T’s Journey of Self-Acceptance
Decades of Doubt, One Brave Step
Ms. T, a neonatal nurse with a heart full of love for others, spent years putting everyone else first. A wife, aunt, sister, and friend, she had many roles—but somewhere along the way, she lost sight of herself. “I often neglect myself,” she shared. “As a result of this neglect, I lost my authentic self.”
Though she’d long been curious about boudoir photography, insecurities rooted in childhood comments and years of body image struggles held her back. Still, a part of her hoped the lens could reveal something beautiful—something she hadn’t been able to see on her own. Her 40s sparked a shift: “My mindset went from anxious to ‘I just don’t care—here I am.’” That mindset led her to finally say yes.
A Leap Toward Confidence
Stepping into the ‘Over 40 and Fabulous’ project was more than a photo session—it was an act of rebellion against self-doubt. For Ms. T, it was about “letting go of body dysphoria for a few hours and embracing who I am.”
The session was purposefully out of her comfort zone. And yet, she described it as unexpectedly freeing. “The experience gave me a feeling I never thought a person with my body could have,” she said. “A different kind of confidence I wasn't expecting.”
More Than Just a Pose
Her favorite part? Surprisingly, it came after the camera stopped clicking. “If I’m being honest, my favorite part was when it was over. Not because I didn’t enjoy it—but because that’s when the real work began. That’s when I had to look at myself and actually acknowledge the positive aspects of my body.”
That moment was about more than photos. It was about choosing to see herself differently—to honor the strength, softness, and beauty she once overlooked. And with that came a shift in how she moved through the world. “Being self-conscious is no longer the main focus of my subconscious.”
Own It—You Deserve To
Now, she encourages other women to take the same step. “For the women who have ANY desire to have this experience—just do it. Stop overthinking. The old you is full of self-doubt. Find the woman you’ve always been but have suppressed.”
And that’s what Ms. T did—she found her again. One photo, one honest moment at a time.
Thank you, Ms. T, for your courage to step into the light, for showing up authentically, and for choosing to celebrate yourself. Your story is powerful, and it reminds us all: it's never too late to reconnect with who we truly are. May your journey inspire others to embrace their own beautiful truth.
