Are you Over 40 and Fabulous?

It’s time to be seen, heard, and celebrated!

Over 40 & Fabulous is a portrait project with a point to make: women over 40 are still beautiful, powerful, and fully sensual. The world just stopped looking.

We intend to change that. Each woman in the project picks her favorite portrait, and it goes into our printed magazine and our public exhibition: real women, over 40, looking incredible. Your portrait becomes part of that statement.

The shoot is a full production. Professional makeup, wardrobe planning, a private studio, and every pose directed, start to finish. You bring the outfits. We handle everything else. Afterward you choose the artwork you take home, the album and wall pieces you love. You never buy anything before you've seen your photos.

We're choosing our next 40 women. It starts with a short application. Apply when you're ready.

What you get

Your Over 40 & Fabulous experience includes:

  • A 2+ hour session in our private studio. Every pose directed, from where to put your hands to where to look. You don't need to know what to do. That's our job.

  • Professional makeup with our artist. An hour in the chair before the camera ever comes out. Most women tell us this is where the nerves start to settle.

  • A pre-shoot consultation and wardrobe planning. We talk through what to bring and what will work on camera, so you arrive prepared instead of guessing.

  • A fine art 11×14 print of your favorite image.

  • A feature in our printed project magazine, alongside the other women in the project.

  • Two tickets to our public exhibition, where your portraits are celebrated with the other women in this year's project.

After your session, you'll see every finished image at your ordering appointment. That's where you choose your artwork, the album and wall pieces you take home.

A $149 non-refundable session fee is required to reserve your shoot date and is added to your package's print credit — extra credit for wall art and add-ons, on top of what your collection already includes.

Who we’re looking for

Women 40 and over—all body types, all ethnicities, all backgrounds.

Whether you're a professional, creative, entrepreneur, retiree, or mom rediscovering herself, this project celebrates YOU.

To participate, you must be willing to sign a release allowing us to share at least one of your images and your story in our magazine, exhibition, and online.

What it costs, before you apply

The $149 session fee reserves your date and covers your professional makeup ($399 outside the project). Your artwork is separate: you choose it at your ordering appointment, after you've seen every finished image. Collections start at $1,600, most of our clients spend around $2,500, and payment plans are available.

Your fee is added to your package's print credit, on top of what your collection already includes. You can reschedule once at no charge, and if you're unhappy with your images, we refund the session fee.

If that fits what you had in mind, we'd love to read your application.

 Ageless Beauty

Hello Beautiful! We’re Angi and Mike Fox, the photographers and founders of Fox and Vixen Photography. In our 50s ourselves, we understand firsthand how our bodies and perspectives shift over time, and how each milestone birthday brings a mix of emotions.

We meet so many incredible women who feel like they’ve become background characters in their own lives. Maybe they’ve been “Mom” or “Grandma” for so long that the idea of just being seen as the beautiful, vibrant soul they are feels like a distant memory. But here’s the truth: those parts of you that maybe you’ve put on a shelf? They’re still there, just waiting to come alive again.

With the Over 40 and Fabulous project, we’re here to help women reconnect with those parts, to see and fall in love with themselves anew. We believe society’s views on beauty and sensuality are just beginning to evolve, recognizing that they don’t fade with youth. But there’s still a long way to go.

This project is about pushing those boundaries even further, showcasing women over 40 as powerful, beautiful, successful, and unapologetically sensual. We’re creating a magazine, an exhibition—a celebration that reminds every woman out there that, yes, you’ve changed, but change? That’s just another kind of beautiful.

Your story, your confidence, and your beauty are worth celebrating, at every age.

Our Promise To You

However you show up, nervous, excited, or not quite sure you belong here, a few things are true for every woman who steps in front of our camera.

You're in control. You set the pace. You choose the wardrobe, and how bold or how covered you want to be. Mike and Angi guide every pose so you're never left guessing, and Angi is beside you the whole time. Nothing you create is ever shared with anyone without your written okay.

You'll still look like you. Every image is fully retouched, and you'll still recognize the woman in it. We retouch the temporary things: a stray hair, a strap mark, a crease from how you were sitting. We don't reshape your body or smooth you into someone else. Scars and stretch marks? That's up to you. Many clients have us remove them, but if they're meaningful to you, they stay.

You don't have to wait. You don't have to lose the weight first, heal all the way, or feel ready. Come as you are, right now. The women who do this in the middle of something hard are often the most surprised by who's looking back at them.

"It was the first time since my mastectomy that I felt like a woman again." — Ms. S

"Don't wait until you feel ready or until you've lost the weight or fixed what you think needs fixing. You are already worthy of being seen, celebrated, and captured exactly as you are right now." — Ms. L

WHAT WOMEN ARE SAYING

It was like the me that was there all along, hiding behind the insecurities and self-doubt, was finally free to shine.
— Ms S
At 52, I never thought I’d do something like this. Now I can’t stop smiling every time I look at my photos.
— Ms L
After almost 3 years of verbal abuse, I broke free. Looking at those pictures changed my opinion of myself completely. I now hold my head high.
— Ms M
This wasn’t about being perfect. It was about remembering that I’m still me—and she’s amazing.
