I ordered a large metal print for over my bed and it’s my favorite piece of art in my house. I couldn’t have captured the fun and beauty on my own.

An evening you get to enjoy being the focus.

Getting dressed up, trying something daring, and laughing with us between photographs are all part of the fun. You get an evening to enjoy your sensuality, experiment with different looks, and have our full attention as we create your photographs together.

If the thought of being in front of the camera makes you nervous, you might be surprised by how much you enjoy yourself. Clients tell us that a few minutes into the session, they've forgotten to be scared. We'll help you find your footing, and you decide how daring you want to be.

We're Mike and Angi, the husband-and-wife team behind Fox and Vixen. Mike photographs you and directs each pose, down to your hands and where to look. Angi helps with outfits, styling, and posing, including showing you a pose when that makes it easier.

You don't need to arrive knowing how to do any of it.

Help before you get here

We'll talk about wardrobe during your consultation. After booking, you'll receive preparation emails with outfit suggestions and practical advice. If you're deciding between looks or have a wardrobe question, you can text us for help.

Makeup, outfits, and time to photograph you

Professional makeup is included. Come with your hair styled, and we'll work through your outfit choices together. Plan on about three to three and a half hours with us, including makeup.

We spend about two to two and a half hours photographing you, typically in five or six different looks. That gives you time to get comfortable in front of the camera and explore the outfits, moods, and styles you're excited about, with our guidance throughout.

Then you get to see your photographs

About 10 days to two weeks later, you'll return for your ordering appointment. You'll see your finished photographs, choose the portrait for the project, and decide which additional photographs and products you'd like to buy.

Picture yourself in the magazine. Then at the exhibition.

Imagine opening a magazine to your own feature, then bringing someone to the exhibition to see your portrait on the wall. You get to be one of the women everyone has come to celebrate, with photographs and a story that are yours to share.

Over 40 & Fabulous brings together photographs and stories of women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. Each participant receives a magazine featuring the women in her project cycle and two tickets to the gallery exhibition.

Why this project exists

There's a narrow idea of what women are supposed to become as they get older: sensible, nurturing, respectable. Being openly sexy, adventurous, or the object of someone's desire can seem reserved for younger women.

You can see it in who gets cast as the romantic lead and who gets cast as the mother. It also shows up in the idea that a woman can be “too old” for a particular outfit or photograph.

We want to challenge those expectations. Over 40 & Fabulous puts photographs and stories of women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond into a magazine and onto a gallery wall. Women looking beautiful, expressing their sensuality, and choosing how they want to be seen.

Each participant adds her own photographs and perspective. Together, they give other women more examples of what beauty and sensuality after 40 can look like, and more room to imagine it for themselves.

You can enjoy being featured for your own sake, and your participation can help another woman imagine herself there too. The magazine makes room for your life alongside your beauty. You don't need an extraordinary accomplishment or a dramatic story to belong.

What you'll share

You'll choose your project portrait at the ordering appointment. That image becomes your included print and appears in the magazine and exhibition. Participation includes sharing your story and signing permission for public use of at least that one image, including other studio publicity and marketing.

Your other images remain private unless you give permission to share them.

Choose the photographs you want to come home with you.

An album gives you room for the different looks and expressions you love. A display piece puts a favorite photograph somewhere you can enjoy it. Digital options are available too.

You'll make those choices after seeing your photographs at your in-person ordering appointment.

The session and the photographs

Your project session is $149. It includes professional makeup, guided photography, your chosen 11×14 matted project print, a magazine copy, and two exhibition tickets.

Collections start at $1,599. The starting collection includes up to 12 images in a 6×6 lay-flat book, a three-image trifold or 5×7 crystal print, social-media digital files of the book's images, and $100 in print credit.

Clients spend about $2,500 on average. Payment plans are available. During your consultation, we'll go over the session fee, starting collection price, and average spend so you have those figures in mind before booking.

Additional purchases are optional. You can participate and receive your included project print, magazine, and exhibition tickets without purchasing more photographs.

Extra credit when you choose a collection

When you purchase a collection, we credit your $149 session fee back to you as an extra $149 in print credit. It's added to the credit already in your collection for additional wall art and add-ons, so you can choose what you'd enjoy beyond the included products. The collection price stays the same.

From Mike and Angi

We want the photographs in this project to help women see themselves as beautiful and sensual at every age. A woman can love being a mother or grandmother and want to be seen as beautiful, powerful, and sexy, too. She can be proud of her career and enjoy an evening wearing lingerie and being photographed.

That belongs in how women over 40 are portrayed, too. We can contribute by photographing the women who join us and sharing their portraits and stories through the project. You might be drawn to that purpose, excited about seeing yourself in print, or simply ready for photographs you've wanted for years. Those reasons can sit comfortably together.

Different women, different reasons

A birthday can make this feel like the right time. So can a personal accomplishment, a fresh start, or finally deciding to do something you've wanted to try. You can also arrive already feeling good about yourself and want photographs that capture it.

LaNora had spent much of her life being what other people expected. Taking up sensual and pole dancing was part of choosing what she enjoyed, and a conversation with Angi at the spring/summer 2024 show inspired her to try being photographed. “I’ve always embraced my body image, but didn’t know it could be captured so beautifully on camera!” During her session, posing became her favorite part. She felt like a supermodel, and afterward described seeing herself as an amazingly graceful woman.

For Angie, the shoot was a gift to herself as she entered her 49th year. She had spent 18 years concentrating on raising her children and was returning to the workforce. She wanted to celebrate who she was and capture a side of herself that few people had seen. “I loved the entire experience, the outfit changes, the poses, the sets! I felt SO free and safe.” She described the experience as a form of self-love and empowerment, and said she'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Jordana was working toward getting onto the physique-competition circuit. After a year and a half of lifting weights, she wanted to photograph her progress and show other women what strength in their sixties could look like. “I wanted to celebrate the progress I’ve made so far. And not for nothin’, I’ll be 65 soon.” She brought some poses she wanted to try and enjoyed discovering what Mike and Angi's direction added. Looking at the finished photographs, she appreciated how strong and feminine she could look at the same time.

Turning fifty gave Jen an occasion to celebrate the work she had put into her health and fitness. She was also rebuilding her independence after an unexpected divorce. “I was recently divorced and felt empowered doing something just for me to feel beautiful and sexy!” Getting ready became her favorite part of the session: having her makeup done, feeling like a model, and working with Angi on outfits, shoes, and jewelry. She felt at ease with the guidance throughout the shoot and said the experience helped her see herself as confident, strong, and beautiful.

Kortnie loved the idea of showing women in their prime beyond their reproductive years. She was tired of women being reduced to numbers such as age, dress size, and weight. “The idea that women over 40 are somehow less attractive is so ridiculous. I’m stronger and more alive now than I’ve ever been.” A critical care nurse and mother of two, she wanted the project to remind other women of their beauty and strength, too. She enjoyed the creative collaboration during her session and felt safe and valued. Afterward, she loved hearing people describe her as strong and sexy.

Diana wanted to take part in something that challenged outdated ideas about aging. “At this point in my life, I feel more comfortable in my own skin than ever, and I wanted to share that energy and encouragement with others.” Even with that confidence, she was surprised by how quickly her nerves disappeared in front of the camera. She found the session encouraging and comfortable, and afterward heard from friends, family, and people she rarely spoke with. Their messages told her she seemed more confident and at ease with herself, encouragement she found deeply validating.

Let's plan the photographs you've been imagining.

After booking, you'll have a private Pinterest board shared with us. Add 10–15 images that help you show us the styles, moods, and looks you like. That gives us something specific to discuss when planning your photographs.

Your preparation emails also cover where to shop for outfits, what to pack, and how to prepare for the session. Bring six to eight looks so we can choose together; we typically photograph five or six. If you're choosing between outfits, you can text us for help before the day.
